Alcohol Surveys
Most cities and counties require a surveyor to perform an alcohol survey at their business to get an alcohol license. If you would like to sell alcohol in Fulton County, alcohol surveys are done to ensure that your business is selling alcohol in accordance with the local laws.
ALTA Land Title Survey
Before a title company or lender can issue title or mortgage insurance, they must first receive an American Land Title Association (ALTA). An ALTA survey must meet the requirements of the ALTA and American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM).
An ALTA Survey Shows:

- Building height
- Identification of access rights to water gas, telephone, railways, and other utilities
- Location of main building and improvements

As-Built Surveys
Once a construction project is finished, the property owner must obtain an as-built survey in order for them to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. An as-built survey will show all the new improvements made on the property. It will also confirm that the location and elevation of the new construction is in line with the governing jurisdiction and approved plan.
Boundary Surveys
Boundary surveys, also called plats, are used to gather data so that accurate scale drawings of the property can be performed. Boundary surveys are typically required when a homeowner wants to close on a mortgage. These drawings show the property lines, the distance along these lines, bearings, and total acreage. A boundary survey will also include any improvements made to the property, as well as any encroachments. Property corners will also be flagged and any missing pins will be reset.
Construction Staking Surveys
Construction staking surveys mark where proposed features are to be built. Construction staking surveys ensure that all proposed features are accounted for and that their locations match the construction plans.
FEMA Elevation Certificates
A Flood Elevation Certificate is needed to ensure that properties are given the correct flood insurance rate. It uses collected data from the field and cross-examines it with the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) to determine the insurance rate or if flood insurance is required at all. Factors include:
- the property location on the FIRM
- the elevation of the house
- adjacent ground level

Residential Site Plan Surveys
A residential site plan survey is needed when a homeowner wants to make a small addition to an existing structure or build an entire house. A residential site plan survey is also needed to obtain a building permit. The site plan shows:
